Anyone got the MR230 upgrade yet?

I'm thinking about it, but the cost & loss of my warranty are giving me second thoughts.

There's a few people that have it I've seen and they say it's very good, but I haven't experienced it myself. Even though I don't need much to get the full kit anyway.

You could get a similar gain by buying all the parts except the cat, and keeping your warranty.

I find it expensive for what it is with the warranty being voided, you can get more power for the money.

Will the upgrade work without the cat?

I'll give them a ring & find out.

No, there I've saved you the price of a phone call.

They'd be no point buying everything except the cat, if you still want the warranty just have the mp215, hoses, intercooler and catback.

Decided to take your advice....plus I'm having the 'symposer delete' fitted.

I'd really like to see a dyno graph of the MR230. Not the one Mountune has in their site. A real one to see if it is worthy for that amount of money. I myself, when the time comes, will go to Peron.

It does seem a lot of cost for the gain, I know it's a really well built kit but to be honest the companies doing it for less a lot of the time are using really high quality parts. Should be an MP kit really at 230 and then it'd be tempting. MR250 would be more suited.

It can't be an MP kit because Ford won't warranty it, wether Mountune tried or thought that the cost would be too much to make it viable to try and get it through.

Why is the peak figure the most important thing? All that is is bragging rights and is the only way to camp are outputs between tuners, the number on the paper means little to how the car feels on the road, if you compare thei graphs the gains between MR230 and MP215 are bigger than the gains between MP215 and standard.

MR250 wouldn't be cheap either, it would be MR230 plus a hybrid turbo, all the tuners say the turbo is at its limit at 240.

You do get a lot of kit with the MR230 all of which are top quality, compare like for like on parts then the price is similar to other tuners, then were down to peak figures as a comparison, figures which vary depending on all sorts of things, how many rolling road days do you see where the claimed figures are never met? Owners go home in a bad mood even though the car feels great to drive, Dynos should be used for before and after figures and for diagnostics. Dyno days are for meets and a bit of fun, except for those whose figures end up low.

Well, you said it all well, but I haven't heard anyone being dissatisfied with peron's gains. It claims 240ish bhp and it costs around 1200 pounds and comes with dp, cooler, intake kit and a remap. Why wouldn't someone choose this over the 2300 pound MR230 kit? In the US deadhooks motorsport have it tuned at 440whp with stock internals and haven't changed a single silicon hose or anything like that.

Surely the dyno is used to compare your stats before and after. Surely the peak power isn't what really matters and some differences always apply, no car is the same, but I myself had a remap to my ST and I was promised 220bhp and 320NM from RICA Chiptuning. What I measured in a maha lps-3000 is 206.7bhp with 296NM!!! That's a lot of a declination! And the company itself admitted that something is wrong. Anyway I dont want to get into too much details, what I want to pass through is that you should always check your car and its performance. It's your money that you invest on something like this and you want to get what you are promised.

When I gather some money I will get the stage 1 peron remap with the itg.
