No Gps Signal

Hi Again

My 2011 Focus Sport has just started saying no GPS signal on the built in satnav, and am reading it seems a common problem.

Is this an easy fix or does it need a visit to the garage?

Thanks

This problem is most likely caused by a defective GPS antenna. The original GPS antenna is integrated into the antenna base. Water ingress into the antenna base causing the components to corrode is a known problem of the ford GPS antennas.

To solve this problem you basically have 2 options. The first option is to install an expensive new original GPS antenna base. However there is a high risk the exact same thing will happen again in the next few years. The second option is to install an aftermarket GPS antenna with the correct (Fakra) connector behind the A-pillar cover. Suitable aftermarket GPS antennas can be found on eBay for under €10,- including P&P.

A pillar is the pillar that goes down windscreen , b pillar is the one your seat belt bolts to by your head, c pillar further back, etc,

When I bought mine , I used a local company that does radio upgrades for mine,

No dash cam.

Im struggling to find the correct Antenna base apart from on the Fords parts website.

Is it just a case of removing the current base and popping a new one on?

Well after taking the light console out next to the rear view mirror where quite a few drops of water came out of it. The satnav this morning decided to start working again!!!

I had the same problem... bought a car (Ford) with Navi without a GPS signal.
I have bought this external GPS car antenne in aliexpress http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/ceuoT5Os fot around 4 USD.

Very easy to install. Just pullout the radio and there is the blue FAKRA connector at the back.

hi, my sAtnav unit is randomly working and then not working. Would it still be water ingress if it’s working intermittently? I assumed it wouldn’t work at all?

Hi Jason,

I have the exact same problem on a 2019 Ford Focus. Where you able to solve this issue?

thanks
