Wont Start

good evening all

I have a 59 plate fusion and this morning shortly after the car was taken for a drive i tried to start the car and it was just cranking over.

I checked the basics and called the AA

it turns out that the coil pack is not getting power

we went through all of the fuses and swapped the relays over and still the same

the power was check on the fuses on the back of the battery and all was fine

any help would be great

am i missing something? has any one had this issue?

Have you plugged the Computer into a ODB 11 scan tool? I had a no crank no start scenario with my focus and that really confused me so i brought a scan tool from amazon and after plugging in it i had codes and a cure.

Yes the AA man plugged his computer into the car and it found no faults or errors.

also tried one i have purchased and the same results.

He went through a massive amount of checks and narrowed it down to the coil pack not getting power

Could it be the coil pack itself that's stopped working?

Your problem was a topic for discussion with a friend of mine. He said if the low tension side of the coil is not getting power then the HT side would be effected causing a no start.

Hope you find the problem soon as ive had a no crank no start problem which baffled me for quote a while. Now cured.

The attached might help and should be accurate.

The connector C800 is by the NS suspension leg going to the coil pack pin 2.

So the result of the call out today was that the crank sensor was hanging out

the guy who had a look said he tried to tighten this but was un able to

i was not there when he was looking at the car so i am not sure where the location of this is

any advise please guys

Did he say why he couldnt tighten it? The bolt kept turning or bolt was tight and sensor still moved? If the later then its gearbox out time, the housing the sensor fits in is bolted from behind and access to bolts is only possible with gearbox out.

thanks, i removed the sensor and it is dead.

I will replace this tonight

i checked out what i was told about the sensor being loose and he was correct.

the bolt was fully tight but there was a couple of mm of play

I will take a closer look at this later on, it is almost as if it has the wrong bolt for it, one that is too long

When you say its dead, has the end of sensor been damaged ?

The cylindrical part of sensor? sounds like its gone forward in to flywheel, the same will happen to new sensor

Just screw the sensor bolt in without the sensor and try to push /pull bolt. See if the housing it screws into moves
