Radio Has Aux Button But Can't Locate An Aux Port?

Hi all,

Bit of an odd one, my radio unit has an AUX button on it, alongside the radio and CD options etc, but I can't seem to find where the AUX port is actually located in the car. My guess by looking at the unit itself is that the radio currently in my car wasn't the original one fitted as there seems to be some slightly damaged edges to the unit where I am guessing the keys would have been inserted.

Can someone confirm where the AUX port should be in the car, and could also confirm that its a standard double DIN radio - I will be looking to swap out the unit at some point but just wanted to check to see if there should be an AUX port somewhere!

Thanks in advance!

It should be between the gear stick and hand brake. What does ETIS say?

If you have usb/aux plug it should say:

Accessory Media Hub 1XUSB

And/or

With A/V Jack

Hmm I only have the 12v socket next to the gearstick, I guess mine has just been retrofitted with the AUX version - not too worried as I will be looking to swap it out at some point.

could be in the glove box. I know they are in focuses of similar age. if not you should be able to buy a cable of eBay very cheap. I got one for my girlfriends focus.

My Focus Titanium X (2012) had a USB connector in the glove box.

Check your vehicle handbook to see if your model has the AUX port. It will also tell you where it is located if it does.

Hope this helps :)

Possible Locations for AUX inputs:

  • In-between the gear-stick and the handbrake
  • Around the radio
  • In the glove-box
  • Somewhere in the foot wells of the driver/passengers area.

If not, Ford has provided an AUX input;

Quite common to have a radio with aux ability fitted without the aux socket.

The kit is about £20 from Ford (Finis code 1426121).

You can install it in your glove-box and feed the wires behind the glove-box to your radio, pretty simple job.
