Water Ingress Rear Lights

Lots of water droplets inside both rear light housings so took them both off and couldn't locate any obvious split or crack where water could be entering. Opening them up and the black foam on the back was soaking and wet in the holes, even leaves, with the bottom bulb holder corroded so sitting in water for some time. Dried them off with a hair dryer and will wait for the next rain, so wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and fixed. Could be water getting down the back through boot seal or whatever else. Any advice appreciated.

I had this issue on the Fiesta many years ago.

The issue was due to the light cluster, it was over tightened and also another channel was blocked, so the rainwater was going behind the panel to the light cluster and being absorbed / dribbled in. One night, I found my reverse light under water! (the whole thing was swimming - god knows how it still worked!!!)

I also checked the spare wheel, and the entire well was swimming too!

I had the same problem. Reverse light bulb completely disintegrated soaking in the water. What I did was remove the seemingly useless foam seal and cut a new one out of thick rubber. It seems to be holding up fine.

Sorry, I couldn't tell you, it was just something I had lying around in the garage.

The alternative is to use a rubber silicone sealant (like liquid gasket)

Is it the seal that is on the panel that holds the bulbs or the seal that goes around the wholelight cluster that stopped the water getting in ?

Ok remove the rear light and drill few holes at the lowest part, it will do the trick u can do it the for front or rear, if your light fog up couple of holes that's it
