Collected a few parts today, correct airbox for the remote idle speed control valve I fitted. Genuine Ford Indicator to replace the aftermarket one I have fitted. And a coil pack cover that mine was missing. Just need a good clean before I fit them all. :)

Took the Escort out the garage for a bit to run her, first turn of the key and idling spot on. :D

Water marks, but will clean up OK. Got a unibond 360 dehumidifier in there now, works a treat. But still needs a wash, but when I'm off work it's usually raining and freezing lol. :)

Changed my knackered under bonnet stickers today, but used ones for a 1.6 efi engine so they are correct. :)

Looks alot fresher with the new stickers fitted Jamie 8) and i suddenly remembered that when i had my Escort back in 96 i replaced both headlamps due to excessive condensation causing the chrome to peel so my thoughts are if yours are original they've really stood the test of time mate and by the way i don't know what these headlamps would cost now but i paid £24.95 for the offside and £10 for the nearside both of them brand spanking new but the cheaper of the 2 was from a scrappy selling off slight seconds ..

I remember my near side being a carello but not sure about the offside and both of mine were chrome tops so even if my off side wasnt original it look as though it was and £20-30 are pretty reasonable tbh and your very welcome Jamie ;) .

Cool so you must be finding your shoulder is feeling alot better then Jamie so lets hope you've not over done eh! and i bet being out in the Escort has wet your appetite for wanting to get out more in it as it's been quite a while since you've been out for a longish drive in him and he's looking really amazing  as per usual mate even though we know he's a little flawed here and there ,,

Well i thought it might still be sore mate and i see you used the common sense approach by gauging how you felt going to the shops first before deciding on doing a longer drive which is the way to do it mate and glad you picked a not very demanding route otherwise you'd be agony by now but just keep doing abit at a time like you are and you'll soon be back to normal driving lol ..

When I the idle control valve to the Hitachi Ford modification. I didn't realize they also replaced the ecu. The car has been idling better but every now and it started hunting. So I sourced a 1afa ecu and it arrived today. :)

_20170308_180710_zps7elako2z.jpg

Car fired up absolutely perfectly, idle was spot on. Even know the battery had been disconnected.

Got up to temperature, and fans didn't kick in. Done ecu reset procedure. Still no fan. Switched off engine, before it got to the red. So I could bridge the fan switch plug. And the fan switch fell apart in my hand. Checked fan still, and all working. Just need a new switch. :)

Think it's past its beat lol

Yep! i reckon that's well past it's sell by date mate and making a temporary bridge does work as i did that trick on my very 1st car lol ..

Lets hope the replacement ECU is a permanent and final solution mate but it should be if it's the correct one like you say it is ..

Thought I'd sort the rubbing strips out today, ready for when it goes to paint. :D

Before, plastic had gone brittle and chrome tarnished.

Before

DSC_0523_zpsyuu6j2t6.jpg

Had to peel off the old double sided tape from the back. Peel off the plastic, then clean up and put on the 12mm wide red Coach line. :)

Not perfect but not too bad either lol

The new fan switch looks great fitted and if it lasts half as long as the original it will have done really well and yes having to wait till next weekend for a proper drive after fitting it is a real annoying pain but at least you know you've got that to look forward too ;) .

Those moulding strips look ace for a bit of a spruce up and even though it's a shame you couldn't get hold of any NOS they'll still look great when fitted mate :) ..
