la_midgeet
Hey guys, i'm trying to connect up my Focus mk2 to FORScan, I have tried every key position on all three switch positions on my modified ELM327 cable, I have also tried every connection method via the FORScan program, and i'm about to lose it... I know its not the cable as I have borrowed it off of Lenny and it has been tried and tested many, many times. when I plug it into the laptop, the lights start to run up and down the cable head, then stays on solid red. any ideas?? Does the female socket have individual sockets for each of the pins on the male head? as I seem to only have 8. (my assumation is that it is different on each car so the same cable can be used. simcor
What operating system are you using and is 32bit or 64bit? Is the driver for the ELM cable installed properly with no yellow exclamation mark?
Ryan_Tango
I had a lot of trouble and in the end it came down to not having the driver installed. Here is a link will shed some light on it for you :) http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/support/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1/0/how-to-install-elm327-usb-cable-on-windows-and-obd2-software

Dee_82
The lesson to learn chaps is don't plug it in until you install the correct drivers! Its all easy to fix but it just makes life that little bit harder
la_midgeet
It Works! I managed to scan it and change a few things (like double lock on one key press, removed no seatbelt chimes etc) also scanned for errors, the real reason I wanted it. and I came up with two, U1900-20 <- I believe this is just where the cable cant quite contact the device and secondly which I cant find information for anywhere, and unfortunately I cleared it before I could read into it was B2970-0F after I cleared it it hasn't come back but I also haven't taken it for a drive yet, any ideas on what it could be? oh that last code was under GEM
Dee_82
that's an odd one, definitely 2970? see if it comes back, perhaps it was just something generated when a battery was disconnected or something similar. ignore U codes, you get them free with the focus, unless there is other issues to go with them
la_midgeet
Its definitely 2970, I'm thinking maybe its because I tried to switch on global locking within out 4 electric windows, I'm guessing it showed up as a error as I don't have the kit needed and it switched off when I cleared it maybe?
