Hey Guys.

I've had my Focus sitting for over a week or so and when I went out to start it today, the battery was flat. I've seen a lot of posts saying not to jump start certain models of Focus, but I'm just wondering if it'd be safe to jump start mine? Assuming I follow the user manual and don't !Removed! it up!

So the long and short is, Jump starting, safe or not?

Perfectly safe if you follow the direction in the manual, ie earth connect last to the earthing point and NOT to the battery direct, earth disconnect first

The manual wouldn't include it if it wasn't safe to do

There is a small but small risk of spiking the ecu when jump starting apparently but I've personally never seen it or had any problems myself.

Only if you don't connect the earth lead last and don't connect it away from the battery
