Hi all,

i have a 2012 (62 plate) 1.6 petrol automatic ford focus, and im having a whiney noise from the power steering area. Checked under bonnet and the fluid is below minimum!!

Does anyone know what fluid is able to use to top it up any specific or would any PSF fluid be ok?

Tried looking on owners manual book and it mentions nothing about the power steering etc..

if anyone can help me, be much appreciated.

thanks

pat

power steering fluid must conform to this spec, wss-m2c204-a2. the ford fluid is green in colour, never put the standard red powersteering/auto transmission oil in.

the fluid being low means theres a leak somewhere. you need to find out where leak is and not just top it up.

Thanks for the reply! :) but What happens if you put red in? Not sure if it was green to start off with. My friend helped me top it up with red fluid as i needed to drive the car back home :/ i was trying to look at the manual book but no information and the whine was getting louder.. I hope its ok to drive still..
