4wdKuga
I have this rather annoying throttle hanging problem on a 163 bhp Kuga TDCI when I accelerate in first gear into the higher rev range such as merging in with traffic on an island I go to change into 2nd gear and the engine revs don`t drop straight away when I de-clutch, apparently this is down to programming for a smoother gear change but the only way to comfortably drive is to keep your foot on the clutch and then leave a longer pause for the revs to drop before changing into 2nd gear which I don`t like having to do. It only happens on a 1st to 2nd gear change but can this rather annoying feature be removed? * * Del.
alexp999
Get it back to Ford for a software update. I had the same sort of thing on my 2012 Focus 163 TDCI. Latest PCM update made it much better.
4wdKuga
Can it only be done through a Ford dealer? * * Del.
alexp999
I think an independent with the correct hardware and software access can do it. It will still be delivered through Fords servers, but they have to make it available even if it is charged for. Some people have upgraded software themselves, but you still need an ELM device and I wouldn't know where to get the software files from.
