Tony_M
Hi The New Fiesta handbook, page 30, under the heading "Locking and unlocking the doors with the key" states "Turn the top of the key towards the rear of the vehicle to unlock the door." Yet on my brand new (11 days old) Zetec 5-door I have tried many times and neither the remote or manual keys will unlock the driver's door. The keys will turn clockwise (towards the front of the car as per the handbook) and re-activate the deadlocking, ie. the indicators flash), but will not physically turn anticlockwise at all. Both keys will operate the steering wheel/ignition lock OK, but this is surely a potentally hairy situation, as at the moment I have only one key that will let me into the car, using remote central locking only. :( Is this a fault, or "finger trouble"? Cheers.
On3rdFiesta!
Hi. I had the same problem when I got my new (now old 09!) and got various stories after my numerous phonecalls to the garage. I eventually went to them and all the lock needed was oil!!!!! Obv rather embarrassed but for once a problem was sorted without numerous trips.... Good luck! I can see some white-coloured lubricant has been applied to the doorlock by somebody before I took delivery last week, but have just tried again to turn the key anti-clock really hard to the point where I can hear the plastic of the manual key creaking, and still no joy, so guess I'll have to take it back to the dealer. Hi Tony Can understand your frustration as mine was same, but then scared to force further. Was even getting stories from dealer that some cars had different door locks to steering wheel barrels in error??!!!! However when took it in they squirted oil right into the lock with the wee tube on the can (sorry, not very technical!) and that was it after a little shoogle. Hope yours works out well as takes the edge off enjoying your new car, and you don't want it messed about with. As as aside, check out the door trims and stone chip postings. Had to get my front door trims changed as coming off and little see-through plastic strips at the bottom of the back doors... Best of luck and enjoy what really is a great car despite all the snags! Tony_M
Am just running through the remaining features of mmy Fiesta that I haven't yet checked out in case there is anything else I need to get the dealer to rectify. Will let the forum know how I get on.
