Benlavelle
Afternoon All, I've been having some really annoying rattling sound coming from what i can only describe as my dash board and was hoping if anyone else is having similar issues? The rattle sounds like plastic coming from around the central speaker area under the windscreen, I've had a passenger press down on the speaker when the sound occurs which stops the noise. With this in mind i popped the speaker out and had a look for any obvious loose bits, but no luck. After this I tried pressing down on the sensor thing at the front of the dash board under the windscreen (i think it's a climate control / windscreen sensor), this again stopped the noise but i don't want to mess with the sensors. Overall the noise is coming from the central front dash, when i apply light pressure to the area the noise stops. The noise mainly occurs when the A/C is on, that being said it also happens when driving over really light uneven ground. Best way of describing this would be coming up to a set of traffic lights where the tarmac has that extra layer of grit for grip. I'm aware that all cars have rattles here and there and I've usually quiet good at finding the cause and fixing it, but I've had no such luck with this one. If anyone has had a similar problem or know how to fix this please let me know. I'm driving a 2012 Ford Focus Estate Titanium.
sonic113
Ben not sure about the mk3 but I had an annoying rattle from the dash on my mk2.5 and I spent ages trying to find it convinced it was coming from centre vents, but it actually turned out to be the Programme changer stick on the radio stalk just bottom of steering wheel. it would vibrate and rattle/shake every so often but I removed it, opened it and fixed it and never had the rattle since, Just a though but check the stalk controls as sometimes if they are loose they will shake about. Good luck anyhow.
Benlavelle
Sonic, Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I've not been able to have much luck regarding the this issue. I've tried putting some bluetac on parts that i think are vibrating slightly in order to test them, however no such luck. it's definitely something under the dash below the windscreen, when i apply a small amount of pressure there the noise stops. It's annoying that i can't access this area, it's probably a small thing like plastic etc. Ben.

Benlavelle
Afternoon again, I've still been trying to fix this REALLY annoying rattle, I'm not sure if the rattle is getting worse or I'm just noticing it more. I've looked high and low on the internet and the best I've found is a thread from the Focus ST forum. The thread went on the say that the boost gauge part was rattling, as i don't have an ST nor do i have a boost gauge there is still a slot where the gauge would usually have been, instead there's a central speaker there. The guide explains how to take the boost gauge out and lay some Velcro-like material to how the boost gauge better, thus stopping no noise. Again this was all explained through a Focus ST and the boost gauge, but they described it as the same noise. I'm hoping somebody has some helpful information as I'm all out :(

What exactly is that radio stalk? sorry Costas , just saw your message. Its the radio controls to the left of the steering wheel. On mine the little stick for changing radio stations or cd tracks was a little loose so vibrated when driving,. Hope this helps
HunterDVJ
I'm having the exact same problem in my 2015 Titanium X. Sounds like a loose bit of plastic rattling buzzing somewhere in the dash. Opening the glovebox and pushing down just in front of my SYNC 2 screen seems to make the sound quieter but doesn't fix it! Was thinking of pulling the plastic dash off and putting a thin layer of foam between plastic layer and whatever was underneath but it sounds like it is coming from deeper inside now that I really listen for it so I'm stuck with what to do :/
Rob_84
I had something similar with my car until recently, then I found the solution! There is a piece of plastic fitted just under the interior mirror that was vibrating against the windscreen. Sometimes it was quiet, but whenever I drove on roads with a less than perfectly smooth surface it would rattle really loudly. I adjusted this piece of plastic very slightly and the rattle has stopped completely. Try it out! All the best, Rob
focusek
Hello I have a similar problem on my mk3 ford focus 1.6 TDCI 2012 estate/turnier.. My noise/rattle comes from A/C vents in front for front windshield. At around 1500RPM dash gives annoying rattle, but when i touch or more like jam my fingers in vents it goes quiet (not all the time) seems like 2 pieces of plastic are rubbing against each other. Im attaching a link to a video (i cant upload video) to hear and see: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yp08JX1m8AqfvJc94bz3RHpLprV7oku6/view?usp=sharing Also if i turn the heater to max and set it to blow (2/4- manual AC) to front windshield the rattle goes away ! But because summer is comming and my car is black i sure im not going to heat up my interior just so the rattle goes away. I found a temporary fix like jamming a pice of paper between 2 pieces of plastic (between dash and AC vent) this solution was fine for a while then in started rattling again. Only problem is clearance- i can barrely fit my hand between windshield and ac vents. When i took the radio out (because that was rattling too once xD) i saw there was some space for maybe fixing this problem because you can see air vent for front windshield. I dont know, i just hope this helps someone or even better resolves this issue.
