When my tank get to the last couple of bars on my petrol metre there's no petrol light coming on? Any ideas what this could be? But when I have the ignition on it comes on then goes off with everything else?

Petrol light comes on at 7.5% or less fuel

Wouldn't recommend running it that low as to test the fuel light though....

That's true

Although, admittedly it was a diesel and Peugeot 406, there is quite a reserve: rather than imminent lack of fuel, the moment that light comes on.  Through a monumental error of leaving my wallet behind, I once drove for 90 miles with the light on

The fuel gauges are hideously unreliable on the old Peugeots though.  The 405 can easily go all the way down to 1/4 and then a few minutes later rises back up to 1/2, without changing road level or anything.  Just random!!

Fortunately though it always reads higher than the level actually is, rather than the other way around where it shows a quarter of a tank and then you suddenly splutter to a halt!
