Hello

I would like to know what tool is required for me to replace the thermostat on my 2006 mk2 ford focus sport 1.8 TDCI

I am a novice and have not gone to college or anything nor did a motor vehicle apprenticeship but I want to learn how to fix my car and I am buying tools .

I notice the thermostat on my 2006 mk2 ford focus sport 1.8 TDCI   requires some sort of star shaped perhaps torque  of some kind to replace.  it is very small star shape looking tool, what tool is required to take it off ?

The star shaped fastener is a TX (torx) headed bolt.

Get yourself a 3/8th drive socket set and a set of 3/8" torx sockets

Like these;

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/pro152-18pce-38-drive-socket-set/

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-pro334-6-piece-38-drive-torx-bit-set/

If you haven't got one yet, you will find a Haynes manual invaluable as learn to fix your car, you need the Ford Focus diesel 2005-2009, which is Haynes No# 4807 manual

I use the PRO152 as well. A very fine tool indeed.
