Hi All

My focus MK2  won't start, No crank and the pats light flashing, as any one had this problem. this is how the clocks go, the pat light flashes fast. then after a short time the pats light flashes 1 then 6 flashes and keeps repeating 1 then 6 flashes.

1 : 6 Faulty link between PATS and EEC v module.

Basically a miscommunication between the ecu and cluster.

I'd get a diagnostic done and go from there.

May be a bad wire or a cluster fault.

Most likely a defective instrument cluster because the display also shows lines instead of the correct values.

Aye, classic cluster failure.

Yeah, loads & loads!

As Clive & Wilco say, sounds like IC problem, common for 2005/6/7 Focus.

I had it, fixed it for £15, that was for a scanner which is a good thing to have anyway.

They can be repaired for usually <£100.

A garage will usually charge £500 to £800 for a new one.

My fix (and some info) is in: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=40491

For info on Forscan, see:

The procedure described in this film only programs the central locking key fob. This has nothing to do with the PATS system or the problems that the topic starter has.

On the Focus MK2/MK2.5 the PATS system can only be programmed softwarematically using a suitable Ford specific diagnostic system that has the ability to program the Ford CODED PATS system.

Definitely a PATS communication fault as discussed earlier.

RCL settings are a totally seperate circuit.

Send the cluster to this company- http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/repair/make/ford?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=ford%20focus%20dash%20repair&utm_content=Ford&utm_campaign=CRManufacturerKeywords

They will diagnose and refurbish the unit no problem.

Hi Guys

took her to ford in the end,  they plugged her in to their computer and found out that there was no power getting to the canbus module, corrosion on the power connection,  this is what was messing the clocks and the pats about,  all running ok now,  price at ford was only  £144.00

Thank again.
