I have a focus mk2 127 on clock with big engine problem,  have loss of power, smoke coming from rear of bay,  hot exhaust and engine temp is normal, engine management light flashing, and engine lumping in bay and misfiring, not very mechanically gifted and would appreciate any advice

Cheers,

What colour is smoke?

Need to get code reader on it, to determine what's triggering engine management light.

The colour is white,. Have a mate with diagnostic reader coming tonight, but wondered if anybody knew what it could be,

What engine is it?

White "smoke" is normally steam, so coolant being boiled off.

It's 1.6 zetec,

It's not steam, defo smoke,  coolant level is fine,  engine struggles on idle although it's being started of something and vibrates really bad,

Sounds like you're burning oil to me. Being a 1.6 TDCi on a MK2 this could be injector seals or turbo related.

Maybe a blocked cat or exhaust??? some codes should point to in the right area I would suspect.
