i have a 1998 ford ka3

when changing into 3rd 4th 5th it

pulls to one side

i have checked the wheel bearings & suspension etc

& there is nothing worn or loost there

if i pull on the offside wheel with the car off the ground

i can hear a sort of clunking noise from under the car.

i think it's the steering rack ??

any ideas on how to check it is that &

replacing it or tightening it up .

The only thing i can suggest without replacing the rack is to check the bolts that hold the rack down are tight. the torque setting is 84Nm or you may have a worn drum stick that i beleive you can buy without the whole rack

hi m8

it's defo the drum sticks that are worn

will replace them when i get the chance

i have done loads of other things to the ka & it's fine now

apart from the steering rack parts to replace

as i get a slight knocking noise over un even ground sometimes but

it's ok for now.

Might be the antiroll bar links for the knocking noise? also check your antiroll bar for movement as my need new bushes.

I have a similar problem, when I accelerate , in any gear, the car pulls to the right.

Excuse my ignorance but what are "drumsticks"?

don't know why i put down drum sticks lol

igne that m8

what was causing my car to pull to 1 side when accellorating was the wishbone that was worne out.

i got my parts from here

www.buypartsby.com

there are 2 types or wishbones 1 for powersteering & 1 for non power steering

mine is the powersteering option

£13.43 inc vat each side

i replaced the pair along with the drop links at the same time &

new front pads as you got to remove them to do the job.

you can also check the following as i replaced them aswekk

the rear arm bushes

open the boot & hold the body & try to push & rock the car from side to side

if you have knocking or movement you need to replace them

i got mine from fords for i think it was £26.00 the pair.

let me know how you get on m8

if you do the front ones replace the roll bar rubbers at the same time

as they are most prob worn aswell

they cost about £5.00 the pair

keep us postaed m8.

if your local to bristol i maybe able to help you out
