thor1
my focus is coming up for its 12 months service, do I have to take it to the main dealers, if not what options do I have to keep my warranty, i only asked because my local ford dealer is awkward to get to and from without transport
TomsFocus
As I understand it, any garage can service it and retain warranty as long as they use genuine Ford parts, and provide an invoice as proof. You might be able to get a courtesy car from Ford for the day, not sure how much it costs though.
Jon84
A Courtesy car should be free, that's what it's called a Courtesy Car :) Availability is usually the issue with them!
TomsFocus
Free? From a main dealer? They're not free here, but maybe they are at some franchises?

Free here in Aberdeen. However you pay more for the service going to a stealer. The big thing here, is if you go elsewhere, they must prove it is to Ford Standards. Otherwise any future claims are null and void, just the way they like it. Most 1st services could be done in under 2 hours, can you book an appointment first thing and sit and wait for it? Take a good book and some pile cream.

Yeah Perrys always were, and Essex Ford continued that. Usually get a low spec KA. If it's not free it's just a hire car lol
JW1982
European law describes that all services can also be performed by official dealers of other brands or independent garages without voiding the warranty. However all services must be performed according to the manufacturer regulations and specifications. This basically means that all services must be performed according to the Ford specifications using original parts/fluids and all services must be performed within the prescribed time/mileage period. In case of a warranty claim Ford will require the customer to prove that the car is serviced according to the Ford regulations and specifications and all services are performed by competent trained technicians. If the customer can not prove this the warranty claim will most certainly be rejected. Because of this it is very important to have all services well documented. Preferably using the original Ford checklist (can be downloaded from the Ford Etis website) and a specified bill listing all part numbers that are used. Just a stamp in the service booklet will not be enough.
David990
If you have a Ford service plan, you'll be given a courtesy car free of charge.
