Could be the well documented cluster fault. If so you can send it off for a repair for around £100. 'Search the forum for focus mk2 cluster fault'

The Focus ICs (dash or Instrument Cluster) from around 2005 / 2006 are notorious for failures, but this does not look like the classic fault set for that, at least not yet.

The soldering quality seems to have been slightly sub-standard. Most often it affects the main CAN bus connection to the IC, so can have a huge range of symptoms, but usually the Engine Systems Warning light comes on in that case.

But if it is just the dials jumping around with no other symptoms at all, then it is still likely to be the IC.

The IC is quite easy to remove, but needs care and time, to avoid cracking the transparent cover. I have done it, a bit of info is in: https://www.fordownersclub.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=40491

If you go to a Ford garage, they will probably just replace it for £800 or more!
