Welsh Russ Posted October 21, 2016 Share Posted October 21, 2016 Hi all, Have today purchased a lovely radiant red gti , its a one owner car the Uk,it was shipped to Cyprus in2004, Driving the car home,i noticed that if your clutch foot is putting any pressure on the pedal , the engine races , the bite point is also very high Is there a simple fix. isetta Posted November 2, 2016 Share Posted November 2, 2016 I agree with other reply. but would add these two points: if it does not slip when you do not have your foot on the clutch then I would wait until it does slip before replacing (unless you don't want to caught hundreds of miles from home with a slipping clutch which is not so likely in Cyrpus (I assume you are saying the car is still in Cyprus). Is it a cable clutch? is the adjuster stuck, do these have automatic adjusters as standard? has someone replaced an automatic adjuster with a manual adjuster which now needs adjusting. On cable clutches the adjuster needs to be slackened off as the clutch wears.
