MaverickWar
Hi Guys, I just bought a Focus Tianium X 1.0 125 in Shadow Black. I have a bit of OCD and have always worried about things like leaving car unlocked and people scratching my vehicle but after somebody ran a key down the bonnet of my last car causing hundreds in damage and people opening doors into me... I could do with some advice. What is the best way to handle, prevent or insure against this? Any tips or am I doomed to be checking up on my car ever 2 seconds of the day and parking in the deepest corners of a car park. Thanks for any responses or suggestions.. also considering minor damage insurance/smart repair
Zico
Clear vinyl wrapping.
TomsFocus
I just park as close to the shop as possible in really tight spaces...so tight they wont be able to open doors on my side to cause any damage. But seriously, there isn't really anything you can do without ruining the look of the car anyway. You could add door strips but they ruin the lines a bit or wrap it as above but clear wrapping is very noticeable. If someone wants to key it there's nothing that would save the paint from that anyway, vinyl will just cuts straight through. Just have to accept that a car is something that will always get ruined over time no matter how careful you are with it.
MaverickWar
are there any recommended insurances or protections that people pay for that work for this? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
artscot79
there's nothing you can do unless you wrap it in bubble wrap and leave it in a garage road salt stones will chip it as you drive airborne particles will scratch it there's no special insurance no magic paint savers etc
Joss max
Maverick hi and welcome There are specialist PPF available to offer some degree of protection for your cars paint work. Paint Protective Film Is often used on high end cars to protect their value from stone chips etc. PPF has self healing properties. However as the guys above have said, Nothing is going to stop someone keying your car. It is something you have to accept. You could spend a lot of money having PPF done but it is not suitable for the whole car. It is mainly used on the front and bonnet plus tail gate. You could at best have a coating applied to the whole car and then PPF to the vulnerable areas. To give you an idea of what I am talking about. Visit these guys. Clean detail. http://www.cleandetail.co.uk/ Have a look around the website and the PPF section http://www.cleandetail.co.uk/paint-protection-film-yorkshire-xpel-ultimate Paint protection http://www.cleandetail.co.uk/paint-protection All of the above will give you an idea of what you can do at best to protect your cars paint. So do have a good read of the web links and site I have provided. At least you will understand what options are open to you.
MaverickWar
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, much appreciated. I think I'm just giving in the the inner irrational demons. The car is pcp so I don't want a huge bill at the end for a few scuffs or scratches and I want it to last and look great till the end. It's a black car so marks and swirls are going to stand out like a sore thumb. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
