Csnewton2701
Hi I have a 57 plate 1.6 focus style. ive noticed when i first start it up the engine sits at 1200-1300 revs and nocks slightly but once its drove a bit it drops to 700-800 revs and runs quiet. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Regards Chris
Micro
It's the normal startup sequence for most cars - the accelerated idle helps warm the engine and exhaust more quickly, helping to cut emissions and I suppose help with engine power/health (at least, once the startup has finished). I think of it as the car having a choke and it being shut for the first bit of every cold startup. As for the knocking, is it definitely coming from the engine? Maybe a loose belt, or loose/bad bearing on any of the pullys?
Csnewton2701
Thanks. Ive come from an automstic thst didnt do it. I think the nocking is when the engine is cold. After its warmed up i cant hear it. Chris
