Washer bottle leaking

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I took out my washer bottle today as it was slimed up.Took ages to do as very fiddly.

Thought all was good but as I just went out to the car only to find it leaking screen wash.

Seems to be leaking at the front of the car so I think that rules out the pump not put in correctly.

Any ideas please.

Cheers

Yeah the neck is a small separate peice and I thought maybe I hadn't put it in properly and hence why the leakage as I filled it up to the top.

But I finished the job at about 3 pm and it was still leaking at 10pm.

Isn't the pump in the base of the washer bottle ? If so, then surely that's where it's leaking from .

Did you ensure you had pushed the filter grommet all the way back in before refitting the pump through it? I did my mum and dads mk2.5 the other day. Other possibility is that if your bottle could have split if it has water in and its frozen.

Weirdly enough after sorting the removal and putting the washer bottle back I then painted up my brake caliper and never noticed anything leaking then.

But when I looked last night the leak seems to be from the front of the inner wheel arch liner and not at the rear where the pump is.

Don't think I can check anything when I get home from work tonight as it is raining and I probably wont be able to tell if it is still leaking.

if you filled it to the top you've overfilled it and it will slowly drip till it gets below the join of the neck where the two parts meet easy to tell it will be dripping from the front of the arch liner
