Front Suspension Clanking?

When I go over a bump the front end of my car sounds like a bag of spanners.

Just had a major service at Halfords and nothing was picked up, not sure if they even test drive it.

Are they all like that Sir?...or could there be something loose?

How noisy is yours when you go over a speed bump etc?

Car has done 77K and is standard 2.0tdci Ghia as far as I know

no it shouldn't sound like that most likely a broken spring but hard to say you really need to get under it to see..i wouldn't trust Halfords to change a bulb never mind service a car

Push the front corners down and hear if you can isolate the noise.

or you weren't paying attention driving home and ran over a beggar with a cup full of loose change...park in a quiet place if there's no muffled groans it may be too late if there is leave a pork pie and some juice out theyll eventually come out lol

1+ on the broken spring, same happened to me (was broken right down in the cup so couldn't see anything wrong until the car was on a ramp and the wheel unloaded)

broken springs on the front are very easy to spot, you might notice the spring isn't sitting at the stop or you might see it has a sharp edge rather than a clean cut.

If the spring is on then all the usual suspension parts need looking over for wear or damage.

You could also try the shoe test,

Basically if theres no fat chicks sitting in the car and you fit more shoe in on one side compared to the other side then the spring is definitely broken #DirtNastyLow
