obkhan
Hello, I have a ford focus 2003 1.6 zetec. Few days back my car's battery went dead because of winter and i do not use my car very often. So i started my car with the jump starter battery back for few times, since then the speed needle, rev needle and the temp gauge started causing problem and they used to drop down to 0. mjt
I beg to differ there. This sounds to me like the classic Focus cluster issue.

obkhan
Is replacing the cluster an expensive job? a mechanic told me that it is coded to every individual car?
Stoney871
The cluster forms part of the immobiliser system so a replacement one would need programming in.Have you contacted a repair company?Sent from my SM-G930F

JW1982
On the focus MK1/MK1.5 the instrument cluster is a standalone module. It is not paired/synchronized to any other module and it also not part of the PATS immobilizer system. The PATS system of the focus MK1/MK1.5 is fully integrated into the PCM. The instrument cluster of a focus MK1/MK1.5 can be changed without any problems. Even without a instrument cluster connected at all the car will be driveable. When buying a used instrument cluster you should search for one that has more or less the same mileage as your car. If the mileage is more or less the same there is no need to pay for a mileage correction.

obkhan
Thanks for your input guys, but just to make sure that the fuel gauge is working and all the lights as well. Could it still be the cluster's problem? Regards.
Davie153
Ive had the same problem for the past few months now. I rarely go out in the car, but when I do, everything is fine, then all of a sudden the speedo, rev counter and temp gauges go to zero, battery, Engine, ABS and the two exclamation lights come on. Every so often it will come back but the left hand side exclamtion light stays on and theres a delay in accelaration. Car still runs fine apart from they issues. obkhan
Hello, Good news is that, the problem has been fixed. All i did was that I took the cluster out opened it and sprayed the connection and board with WD40 and bang it was working fine. It also cured the chronic problem of the odometer's light being constantly lit. I am very thankful to everybody for their input. cheers.
