Just saw a video on Ford uk's Facebook page about the new fiesta st. It says 24th feb at the end of the video so I'm guessing that will be the announcement date?

Was not expecting that so soon, another 6 months at least....

Yes, 24th is the announcement date. I've been told that STs won't be available until early 2018 though..

I would have thought it would be late 2017 if they are releasing details on the 24th and it will be at the Geneva Motor show in March

Yes, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

I think they will keep the 1.6 and give it 200 hp maybe a bit more.

I've heard rumours that it's a completely new engine, following the theme of the 1.0 ecoboost.

I hope not.

As they say, there's no replacement for displacement. :)

They should stop with the stupid fewer cylinders//less cc's  better.

Possible scenarios I've thought of:

1, Same engine and output as the ST200.

2, 1.0 ecoboost, with hybrid turbo or electric motor to supplement it.

3, 1.1 3 cylinder with turbo.

4, 1.5 ecoboost.

I actually think the last option is the least likely for the simple fact that it has an integrated water cooled intercooler so makes tuning and upgrades near impossible.

Might be less cylinders, but more cc in this case..

I've also heard it's going to be a 1.0 three-pot.  At least it'll sound nice!  Not sure how long it'll last though.

They should put the focus st engine ;)

That will be a crazy hot mini rocket pocket. With 5 doors of course.

That would be too heavy. Feels heavy in the focus, be awful in a fiesta.

I have read somewhere tonight it's likely to be a three-pot, let's hope it will be realible with all that power

I also think it will be three cylinders, but very much doubt it will be a 1.0.

I have to say, it still sounded like a 4 cylinder in the teaser.

Didn't have that 3 pot growl

I wonder if the Grey colour they use at the end of the video will be the ST only colour they always do (maybe I'm over analysing that lol)

Really, I thought the opposite

Looking at the video, I think it's just wearing the ST-Line body/bumper at the moment, probably why it has camo on it, to indicate it's not the final design.

Not sure that article is well informed:

"Fuel economy will also drop from the 148g/km CO2 of its predecessor."

A drop in fuel economy, as measured by CO2 readings...

It also mentioned a 1.5 three cylinder? Is there such a thing?

Not a Ford engine, nope.

Either the 1.5 4 cylinder or 1.0/1.1 3 cylinder.

In terms of an upgrade in quality etc, that much is pretty much assured but I have a feeling it's not going to be unique enough like the current ST with its rear diffuser and front bumper
