dopper
Hi Guys, Today, I've returned to Ford after a long hiatus and purchased a Mk3 1.6TDCI titanium (MY2013). It appears to have been well looked after with a full service history and has 64,000 miles so reasonably well used over the last 4 years. I'm noticing that car seems quite underpowered when pulling away from a junction in first gear? Its is my first diesel car so i'm hoping that i just need to get used to driving it different to my last car (Civic MK8)? Can anyone offer any reassurance that this is as expected / designed - I'm assuming that it is the way the gears ratios are set to try and maximise efficiency? Other than that the car is fantastic! isetta
it's a shame ford have to program the ecu to limit the power to protect the gearbox. making a gearbox that is strong enough to take it would have been the best solution

It's not just Ford that do this by design, my mum's VW/Skoda has exactly the same.
