Managed with a lot of luck to get a friend who i haven't seen for a good 12 years round who was a mechanic.

He's reset the timing belt and still won't turn. He's thinking maybe the valves so waiting on a compression tester. If not of that pretty much screwed.

Car is at my house so no doubt just tow me to a garage at £120

Had the timing belt set and still nothing. He and another lad said it's the valves. They've done a compression test and came up as 0

Did you have the correct tools to do the job?

He did, that's all I know as he was a mechanic. They've redone the timing and still won't tick over and his friend had a compression tester and came as 0.

I don't know anymore than that, other than he says the valves are bent. However i cant find anywhere that sells mk7 fiesta zetec s intake valves

But how did you lock and set the engine up to start with when you did it? Floating cams and crank..

All i know is he set the two cams the holes to the top, and put a bolt in the crank till it wouldn't go anymore.

I didn't touch it as I've no idea what I'm doing.

Sounds like someone has made a monumental mistake somewhere. I have just done one on Friday afternoon along with the waterpump. I've done enough of them now - I didn't even remove the tools to rotate the engine to ensure everything still lines up.

It's quite a difficult one to mess up if you have the correct tools and follow the procedure.

But sounds like you'll have valve damage if the timing is set correctly now.

As in the timing? I've not personally touched it like i say friend touched it. But I'm just completely lost and it's caused major argument with the other half as had no car for 2 days. Pretty much lost at the minute. As I've no idea what exactly is going on.

does sound like whoever did replace the water pump didnt set the timing belt up correctly , therefore the piston and valves have touched . its essential to use the correct tools . its head off and inspect the damage.

So could be more than valves? Sounding like a stressful time and a pricey one

Certainly don't let your 'mate' loose with a valve spring compressor lol

Well update is Ford are charging 276 for 8 valves but willing to give me 10% discount, so 248 i think it was... Nice of them. Though before it's touched, car is hopefully getting moved to a local garage... *Touch wood* it's only valves.

Should i keep you guys up to date?

£248 for what? just the parts? Because that job is a whole lot bigger than £248 lol

If thats the price for JUST the valves/parts and nothing else you need to look elsewhere lol

to add to that job you'll need headgasket (or head set), head bolts, coolant etc and quite a number of hours labour.
