chrbuff
Hi guys. Had a quick search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I was browsing on eBay and found K&N panel filters to fit my Fiesta 1.25. Would you guys recommend it or is it too little to make any difference on the car's performance? Would it affect fuel consumption and car warranty? Thanks.
InstructorPiggy
Likely to affect warranty...but if need arrises you can just swap them back round! But as regards performance, won't be very much, if any as air flow sensor will notice change and the ecu is likely to adjust so you don't get much advantage! :)

Won't make much difference except they are cheaper in the long run as they can be cleaned over and over again. I use a pipercross foam filter mainly because they are easier to clean than the K&N ones with fibre. Shouldn't affect warranty but I would keep the paper one for when the car is serviced to change it back, if you don't some thieving sod will have it and stick in a stock paper one and the more devious types won't bill you for the filter so you won't know it's gone (I had a ford dealership do this when I had an escort quite a while ago). You may notice slight differences in power delivery, maybe a bit smoother and better gear changes but only about 3 to 5 percent power increase is not dramatic. I have a pipercross fitted to my 1.4 Petrol and the only difference I can see is a percieveable difference in 5th gear at motorway speeds just a little more relaxed up inclines and less need to change down. Thanks mate I'll have a look at Pipercross. Does it change the sound of the engine?
amarokuk
Thanks mate I'll have a look at Pipercross. Does it change the sound of the engine? You don't get the whistling sound like from an induction filter. I guess that as panel filters fit in the existing airbox you won't hear much difference sound wise with any make. Like I said above it just seems a little smoother at idle and accross the rev range. If your interested the part number is PP1743 for the pipercross I got mine from Rude Racing ltd online.
