FMC
Can someone without the spare wheel option please take a pic of your spare wheel well in the boot so i can see what the polystyrene "boot tidy" looks like? Our car came with a spare wheel which we had originally ordered but i've decided i'll never use it, so i'm going to ditch it. I was planning on making my own polystyrene wheel well tidy, with designated slots for things like my umbrella, maybe a tyre inflator kit, and other "junk" that tends to build up in the boot However i'll resist doing a Blue Peter jobbie if the standard Ford polystyrene is suitable for my needs, i just need to know what it looks like before i go to Ford Parts to order one Cheers :)
Jonny87
Sounds interesting, why dont you want a spare though?
FMC
Sounds interesting, why dont you want a spare though? Cos i'll be too lazy to fit it, should the need ever arise. That's what AA membership is for lol And can anyone seriously say they'd want to get their hands filthy and frozen changing a flat in this weather? And what if it's dark too? And with a boot full of shopping? And i hate seeing a spare wheel that's been used - usually all filthy dirty! So it'll be nice for the next owner to see a shiny, new, unused spare and jack when they buy it (already thinking that far ahead, sad, i know :P) :)

Otherwise you'll end up getting trailered to a ford dealership of kwikfit or the like... I agree changing a wheel is a pain, especially at -20C with 10 foot of snow in the middle of the night, in the dark, in a blizzard, with a boot full of shopping. But I can easily forsee a scenario in which you dearly regret ditching the spare...

Same as anyone with a Fiesta who didn't opt for the spare. I'll stick an inflator kit in the boot, and if i am ever unfortunate enough to rip the sidewall (therefore meaning the tyre mousse cannot repair it), then a trip to a tyre dealer courtesy of the AA, will of course be necessary :) Oh, and it's not for sale sorry :( (if i ever change my mind, i'll let you know) Cheers

On the topic of spare wheels, I have heard that you must not use alloy wheel nuts for steel wheels (ie the spare). Is this true? If so I have no other nuts available to use!! It's steel nuts on an alloy wheel that you should never use ;)

FMC
Id be very interested in buying it off you if you would sell it? Sorry i won't be selling it :( If you really want one i believe all the bits and pieces can be bought from ford parts - but i'm not sure if there is a welded catch in the well which the tether is boted into? I know that Focus STs without spare wheels didn't have this. It's important to bolt the tether in to secure the wheel so it doesn't become a missile in the event of a crash :)

Not done many miles in it so far but it's so far, so good! Wish i'd gone for that interior pack 2 with the light up gearknob and sills <_< As for the tyre mousse, there are types that can be washed out so the tyre can be reused - trhe standard Ford one is a permanent one i believe (i had one in a Continental® bag in my ST, which makes the tyre unusable if deployed). I used to keep cans of Holts Tyre Weld from Halfords in the boot in case of a puncture, which can be washed out afterwards saving the tyre, which i'll transfer to the Fiesta now ;) Get that pic up of your weel tidy please! Thanks! :)
