keat63 Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 It's looking more likely that the poor starting problems on the son in laws focus is the head gasket. I've not changed a head gasket in over 25 years, and certainly never a twin cam, so I've a few tools to buy before I attempt the job. Although Haynes is often deficient in the details one really wants to know it does describe the engine overhaul procedures quite well and lists all the required torque settings and tightening angles.
