Dash vibrations

Hi all, love the site

As I have bought a Ford Focus I thought I'd join this excellent site.

Ok, here goes.

While driving I can hear a vibrating noise from behind the dash, it sounds like something like money or a pen has fell down the back and rattling about when driving slow in a high gear, I do suspect its money as when I bought the car there were several one pennies sitting on the dash and I suspect one off the has fell down the back off the dash. I cant see anything obvious but my view is sort off hindered as its such a closed space. I got a knife with double sided tape around the tip and run it along the back of the dash and windscreen but didnt pick anything up so therefore thinking whatever it is had fell right down.

Are there any tips and tricks to get this thing out, if at all anything or is it an easy job to get behind the dash?

I dont even care if its a hard job as this noise is driving me bonkers, it only happened if I'm driving slow in a high gear, I checked engine mounts and they are spot on, was thinking maybe theres a way to get the air vent off and get my arm in behind the dash some how or behind the stereo or Speedo.

Really at my wits end and Ive now got to the stage of having to put the stereo volume pretty loud just to drown the sound out.

Cheers

emove the head unit and youll find the screws there to remove the central console may give you enough room to get behind

hi, i just spotted your message and i have the exact same problem!

I thought it was the metal lever for adjusting the drivers seat but its not, then thought it was maybe something with the adjustable steering lever but its not, id be interested to hear if you find out the cause....

out of interest, what year/ mark is your car?
