Swirl removal

Trying to remove swirls and slight orange peel from the bonnet using wet sanding, 3000 and 5000 grade.  This leaves a dull finish on the clear coat.  Using Meguiars Ultimate polish prior to waxing but cannot achieve a mirror finish, it is still dull under the polish.  Advice appreciated.

You'll need a DA/polisher to bring the shine back up

Took it to a detailing specialist this morning and his first words were; It will have to be done with a DA polisher...

if just trying to remove paintwork swirls theres no need for rubbing down with any grit paper , just use a liquid polishing compound , especially if only working by hand.

obviously no help to the OP after the fact but may be of use to any readers that follow
