Mk7 wing mirror damage/replacement

One of my wing mirrors has been knocked heavily and the black plastic trim no longer sits flush against the door.

I took the mirror off and see that it bolts onto a steel plate which is welded inside the door.

Before I buy a new complete mirror, I wanted to check whether it is common for that mounting plate to be damaged as well. Or is it more likely that the bolt & pins have been bent a bit, in which case a new mirror should fit snugly.
