nharrison2012
hi, so i have a 2012, Astin martin front end fiesta which is a 1.4 petrol Auto. The issue is the car will change from 1st to 2nd but then when it tries to change into 3rd gear it seems to be slipping the clutch whilst never actually entering 3rd gear like the revs go up if i put my foot down but like the clutch is still engaged and never grabs 3rd if that makes sense? from what i have read it could be the synchro for 3rd or it could be a solenoid issue etc? anyone got any idea? also if i have to replace the gearbox, would anyone know whih gearbox's are compatible? thanks Nick
Luke4efc
Eugh I hate autos, the only advice I cam give for slipping is fluid and filter change. How many miles has your car done?

How many miles has your car done? but is it the Ford Powershift with the twin dry clutches ( and hence fluid is just a bath for lubricating the cogs and does not affect the changes/clutch operation)? (I don't actually know the answer) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_PowerShift_transmission

isetta
I do not know much about how autos have advanced in how the box decides to change up. Years ago i had an Escort mk2 Auto which would not change up. There was a vacuum pipe going from inlet manifold to side of gearbox . Where the pipe connected at the inlet manifold end it was totally choked up with black carbon blocking the vacuum. Cleaned it out and it was fine. I do not know if modern autos still have vacuum pipes which the gearbox uses to determine when to change.
