GMX
What is the actual difference between RE4 and RE2 class of Western Digital Enterprise Hard Drive (AKA as Gold)? Despite googling, I'm still no clearer. Of my nine main PCs, on the vast majority I have installed Seagate ES2 drives but I'm led to believe Western Digital's RE are the superior drive now in the enterprise class. In replacing the drive that failed last week, what would I be getting with RE4 that I wouldn't with RE2 and vice versa? RE2 appears to cheaper than RE4 (with some but not all suppliers)but there must be more to them than price alone
alexp999
I think they are just different generations. RE2 is SATA II, Gold is SATA III. RE2 are no longer manufactured so they are shifting old stock at a lower price.
