KitschQueen
Hey all! My 1999 Ford KA2 is due for it's MOT in feb, I have been looking at last years certificate and am wondering about the advisory on it 'Both rear shock absorber top mountings worn acceptable at time of test' Has anyone had this before? and what would be an average cost of fixing this? I can't ask my mechanic as he's off work at the minute and will probably (hopefully) only be back just before my test is due. Thanks in advance for your replies KitschQueen xoxo

Thanks in advance for your replies KitschQueen xoxo Had a few Ka's over the years - top rubber shock mounts (front and rear) are notorious for wearing out, usually last about 25k. Good news is they are cheap parts and easy to replace. Very easy DIY job. Not a lot of cash if you get an independant garage to do it (an hours labour and 20 quid for the parts), just remember and ask for genuine ford replacement parts, you can get cheaper aftermarket ones but they wear out even quicker. Nothing to wory about really Hope that puts your mind at rest Derek
Jonny87
Definitely a common problem, Fiestas around that time had it the same. Usually you will get a knocking sound from the rear if they are too worn down. New ones make a nice difference
