Ford approval for crank coolant seal repair - out of warranty?

Hello all,

Had my car, 2014 1.0 Ecoboost,  into main deal to check a coolant leak.  Turns out it's the seal on the crackcase that's busted.  Quoted 8-10 hrs repair time and sent me to another branch who are equipped to do the repair.  My warranty ran out in May and they said there is a bulletin (Technical service Bulletin?) out and I can try and get prior approval from Ford to cover repair which the dealer will do when it goes in at end of month, otherwise its around £850.

My question is how successful are people at getting prior approval from Ford on this type of work given car is 5 months outside warranty and has 53000 on the clock?

Given what I read today on Ecoboost engines I am tempted to get rid of the car and trade in if I am liable for the cost, but I do love the car...

Cheers

Broon

Due to ‘ongoing’ problems with the ‘ecobooms’ Losing their water, like iantt says, I doubt you’ll have any problem.
