Right seems a few people are interested in getting this setup on the mk7.

Now correct me if i am wrong but from what i see if you have the projector lights then the H7 Conversion kit is what you need. IF you have non projector lights you need H7R Conversion kit. These are both for dipped beam.

H7R hid kits have a anti glare part added to the bulb.

I will be getting a 6000k setup soon but just thinking does anyone know of a company who they have dealt with and got good feedback about them.

I dont really wanna spend more then £100 on them.

Any feedback about people using hids ould be great plus a odd picture here and there, maybe from inside the car looking down the road to see the gains.

Just starting another one as the Philips blue vision thread was getting over run with hid talk so started one up for anyone who is interested in getting hids for there fiesta.

Also if the cut off is the same as the standard bulbs then cant see them blinding anyone. If being used in non projector lights i can see what your saying but the projector gives a sharp cut off line on the lights

fine have them i dont really mind because i had them for a while on my 206 then took them off again.

but the fact is on ANY new fiesta they are illegal, projector lights or not.

also if you do keep your car for more than 3 years you WILL have to take them back out for an MOT.

Facts are that putting HID lights into any Fiesta is Illegal. Thus any discussion about installing them into a Fiesta is conspiracy to break the law and is incitement for others to do likewise. As such my opinion is that this thread and others like it should be stopped. This is a respected and upstanding online forum and there should be no concession made toward these discussions.

Got your pm alexavfc, the info is what i needed and with regards to the canbus i will be giving hids direct a ring tomorrow to see if one is needed.

hahaha! If you think that fitting HIDs illegally to a car is 'living a little' then I dont think you can really lecture anybody, as you must live a sad little life. If thats your idea of fun then there's no hope for you!

You're being a pillock and other (far more responsable) road users are going to be subject to your foolishness. Just for the sake of you and you HID's.

your implying that you are mr perfect when it comes to driving and that you have never broke the law, from my "silly HID kit" I will be gaining better visibility at night thus fulfilling the purpose of having them, like I said if you dont aprove of HID's why even bother reading the thread? We're clearly not going to agree on this and if i'm being honest I couldn't really care, I will be fitting HID's because i want to. end of.

I myself am not 100% sure on the legality's of fitting HID's to any cars so i cant possibly comment.

Spot on, the bulbs are poor quality and will probably not last too long. Too much to go wrong to justify doing it to a brand new car IMO

Lol this remind me of the vxr online forum now, oh well anyways forgot to ring hidsdirect today so will ring them tomorrow, I will also ask about a group buy see if they will offer anything.

Well if changing the headlight bulbs voids my warrenty then its balls up already as its got different sidelights aswell!!!!arrgghh the gates of fire await me!arggh and indicator bulbs ;)

Aftermarket HID headlamps

In the Department's view it is not legal to sell or use after market HID lighting kits, for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon.However If a customer wants to convert his vehicle to Xenon HID he must purchase completely new Xenon HID headlamps. The reason for this is that the existing lens and reflector are designed around a Halogen filament bulb, working to very precise tolerances. If one places a HID "burner" (bulb) in the headlamp, the beam pattern will not be correct, there will be glare in some places and not enough light in other places within the beam pattern.

The following is the legal rationale:

The Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 regulate the situation in the UK.

Under these Regulations, HID/Gas Discharge/Xenon headlamps are not mentioned and therefore they are not permitted according to the strict letter of the law.

However new vehicles have HID headlamps. This is because they comply to European type approval Regulations. The UK cannot refuse to register a vehicle with a European type approval. These are to ECE Regulation 98 (for the HID headlamps which are tested on a rig in a laboratory) and ECE Regulation 48 (Lighting Installation on the vehicle).

For the after market, a Used Vehicle Cannot obtain type approval because it is only applicable for new vehicles. However we feel that saying "HID is banned in the after market" would not be reasonable. Instead we should make analogies with new vehicles. It would be reasonable to require HID in the after market to meet the same safety standards as on new vehicles. The same level of safety should apply.

Therefore a HID headlamp unit sold in the after market should:

1. be type approved to ECE Regulation 98 as a component.

2. when fitted to the vehicle should enable ECE Regulation 48 to be complied with (although no government inspection will take place).

3. Comply with RVLR as far as "use" is concerned.

In practice this means:

1. The headlamp unit (outer lens, reflector, bulb) shall be type approved to ECE 98 and be "e-marked" to demonstrate this. That can only be done by the headlamp supplier - Hella, Valeo etc. who must test the headlamp in an independent laboratory.

2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension- some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam.

3. The headlamp must be maintained in good working order, kept clean, and aligned/adjusted correctly like any other headlamp.

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is an offence to supply, fit or use vehicle parts which are not legal.

In summary it is not permitted to convert an existing halogen headlamp unit for use with HID bulbs. The entire headlamp unit must be replaced with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs and it must be installed in accordance with the rules stated above.

1. No MOT for three years

2. It'll take all of 10mins out of my day to remove them and put in normal bulbs thus not voiding my warranty.

Not as simple as that mate, you will have ballasts and all sorts to remove as well. Each to their own.

this is just my opinion but i dislike HID headlights, the generally tend to be set up wrong and often blind me when i pass other cars with them on.

if you think your cars headlights need to be mega bright then i think you need an eye test, when i used to ride my bike with a not very bright full beam i could see perfectly well, even on country roads at night. no need for hid's imo.

You do realise it's an offence to drive the car if it's not roadworthy, which it won't be, whether you have an MOT or not.

Also, do you know nothing will be recorded on the ECU if you change lights and wire in ballasts etc that are required to run the HID's.
