Trouble starting mondeo 2.2 tdci

I have a 09 2.2 mondeo tdci it starts fine when cold or hot but if left for few hours strugles to start turns over then fires with white smoke out bk then clear and will run fine all day had a new dev fillter fitted still the same and no fault codes showing  any help please
