I assume the "remove" was supposed to £550 because besides physically removing the DPF the ECU software has to be rewritten to forget all about the DPF.  Otherwise you can get warning lights and general bad behaviour from the engine.

Although removing a DPF isn't illegal (for the garage) it IS illegal to the drive the car so you'd be the one on the hook for it if caught.

Incidentally, what possessed you to buy a diesel for city/London driving?  I assume the car was priced well below the market rate?

I dont mean complete remove it. ... only clean it complete in 100%
Yes price was very good around 1200 cheaper them car with same milage age on autotrade eBay etc. - diesel as well.

I dont know much about car so ... i found what dpf it's when I purchase car :)

overall i dont mind if I fill tank with diesel or petrol ...

It's probably cheaper to buy another DPF if it costs £300 to clean.  My aftermarket DPF cost £200 but I do have the older type so not sure how much newer type costs.

I would also be interested to know if modern black cabs have DPFs or not?  I wouldn't think so though...hence the zero emmisions cabs coming in 2018...
