Fiesta Mk5 Footwell Leak

Hi guys. This !Removed! car's getting on my nerves now =P

A few months ago I found out my passenger footwell was damp after my girlfriends bag got wet sitting on the floor. I just assumed it was a spilt drink or something and forgot about it when it dried up.

Last week I noticed it was absolutely soaking wet. After doing alot of googling I found... nothing o_O Well nothing special anyway. I've pulled all the carpet and noise insulation out, in the hope of seeing a puddle form.

I poured water over the entire passenger side of the car repeatedly but it's still not leaking o_O

Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thanks, Pete

Driven through any deep puddles recently?

I remember in my Mk4 I want through a very deep puddle a bit too quickly and some water !Removed! in. But that was through the driver side, not sure if it affected the passenger side too.

Coincidentally it was a 1.25 3 door LX, much like yours.....

Hi

I had a mk5 with air con.

My g/f's handbag was by the centre console by her feet.

When we went round a tight bend water poured from the heater into her handbag. (freezing cold water)

It only happened with the air con was on.

It turned out that the drain pipe was blocked with gunk.

Usual suspects:-- 1) lack of front drain-hole in front doors:-- the dealers got landed with making these forward drain-holes.

2) excess wax in door cavities;-- poke them clear with a tooth-pick, thro' the 3 drains per door.

3) Bad seal of the pollen-filter chamber, which is accessed from the passenger side of the central console.

4) Blocked drain of the condensate tray at the A/C.

5) Disturbed vapour seal in door.

6) Dislodged grommet in floor.

7) Insecure under-tray in engine bay, allowing water from driving thro' puddles to gush upwards, to places it shouldn't reach normally, and find access routes.

8) Failed window mastic seal arould the front windscreen;-- normally makes the black window edge go white.
