I know of a number of diff cars having the same problem it is a faulty door lock and some times the only way to get the door open is to break the motor/lock itself the pug 406 use to have the same problem and the fiat stilo/188 punto, the cost is more labour than a door lock, and some times you can shock the lock by locking and unlocking but be aware you can over heat the motors and will stop working for a few seconds while they cool down, it would pay to try and give it ago yourself i work in a garage and the past week we have done a few door locks on diff cars with the same fault. it does take abit of time to free/break the lock free without too much damage.
