Mini Cooper Wouldn't Start

28 August 2014 - 07:55 AM

Hi all

Don't know if anyone could help me she's any light in this.

Went out in my fiancés 2004 mini yesterday to get it cleaned then take it for it's mot. When we got to the car wash ( one of those hand jobbies) we switched off and waited until they had cleaned it and then got back in and it wouldn't start just a clicking noise.

So straight away I thought battery. Anyway the guys there helped me to bump start and it fired straight up.

Drove to it's mot in town and had no more starting issues.

Went to eurocar parts and picked up a new battery then travelled to my folks house 20 mile away. Borrowed my dads multi meter and it showed 12.5v. Went to install the new battery which incidentally didn't fit as it wasn't tall enough so the cables didn't fit on the terminals.

So reinstalled new one and the voltage was still good. Fired it up checked voltage whilst running and it showed 14.5v

So I know it's not a ford but do you think it could be a faulty starter motor or something else?

Any thoughts?

Re Attaching Rear Door Weather Seal

31 July 2014 - 05:59 AM

Hi all

The weather seal on my passenger rear door has been torn away from the door itself. It seems to be stuck on. The car is a mk3 focus.

What do you guys think would be the best stuff to reattach it temporarily as I'm driving to France in it tomorrow. At the moment it sticks out proud from the car when the door is shut.

I was thinking silicone sealant as it would be waterproof but I don't know if that would work. Then I thought of that gorilla glue advertised on the TV

Any suggestions.

Thanks. Adrian

Just Done An Oil And Air Filter Change.

07 July 2014 - 08:17 PM

Have to say I'm quite chuffed with myself!!! Ford wanted 70 quid. I'm not particularly good with the spanners so a mate and me brother came over to keep an eye on me.

But it all went rather well.

It's a 2012 1.6tdci so I'm going to change the oil every 6000 miles to try and keep it in as good shape as I can.

Just thought I'd share.

Voice Control Issues.

20 June 2014 - 07:30 AM

Hi all

I'm hoping someone out there may have experienced an issue I am having with the voice control on my 2012 focus titanium x.

It's an intermittent issue. What happens is this. I'll start the car up and I can use the system to make a phone call once I've finished the call I'll end it and carry on driving.

Sometimes when I go to make another call I pull the trigger on the back of the steering wheel the stereo mutes but I can't do anything. I don't get the beep or the "say a command" sentence.

All I can do is pull the trigger again and the stereo comes back on. It's worth noting that when this happens the iPod no longer works (this is plugged in in the glovebox) and I can't stream music over Bluetooth from my phone either.

I have to get to my destination switch off the car. When I come back to the car it works again.

I assume it must be a software glitch so I was thinking about taking it in to get it looked at as I've only had it 4 months. But I did read somewhere that it maybe possible for me to update the software myself.

So if you have experienced this or know anything about the software update I'd love to hear your thoughts

Many thanks

Service Indicator Has Come On But Car Was Serviced In March

16 May 2014 - 10:43 AM

Hi all

A quick question. I bought my focus in March as part of the sale it was agreed the car would be serviced before I picked it up. The service book was stamped when I picked it up and so I assumed it had been done. I've been checking oil regularly and whilst it is black it don't look that dirty.

So now I'm wondering was it serviced and just not reset or was it not serviced???

If I ring the dealership I assume they are just going to turn round and say it was.

Do you think it's worth ringing or shall I just reset it.
