Topics I've Started

02 April 2015 - 09:24 AM

Hi all

I know this topic has probably been done to death but I thought I would ask for your opinions.

I need a set of new tyres and I can't decide what I want.

Currently the car has the original tyres it came with Michelin primacy hp. They have done 29000 miles and I can't say I have any complaints.

But I'm looking at these new sort of Eco tyres thinking should I get these. The ones I'm looking at are dunlop blue response or goodyear efficient performance.

But then I've seen good things about hankook ventus evo2 k120 and they are a bit cheaper.

So I don't know know.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these tyres they want to share.

I suppose I'm mainly after a decent mix of economy, handling and quietness.

Many thanks

Sump Plug Washer.

09 February 2015 - 11:15 AM

Hi all

I'm probably being dim, but I'm trying to get all the bits I need to do a mini interim service in my 2012 1.6 tdci.

Ford parts uk seem to do most of the parts at very reasonable price but one item they don't seem to do is the sump plug washer.

I've found one place, micks garage that does them but they want more for delivery than they do for the part.

Does anyone know the finis part number if there is one. Or where I can find a washer or a pack of washers at a reasonable price.

By all accounts it needs to be m10 with a 20mm diameter and 1.8mm thick.

My Cars Been Damaged

23 January 2015 - 01:50 PM

Came back to my car last night to find the drivers door is dented and a little bit scratched with blue paint left on it.

I've stuck a pic on here. Does any one have an opinion on wether it may be repairable by the likes of chips away.

If it isn't I'll have to go through insurance.

I'm really annoyed. The car was pretty much perfect. No scratches. Not even many stone chips on the front.

Don't know why people can't just be honest.

Temperature Gauge Moving Around

20 January 2015 - 08:33 PM

Hi all

I have a 2012 1.6tdci titanium x and this morning whilst sat in a long queue of traffic I noticed that my temperature gauge pretty much went from normal operating temp to about 60. It came up again once I started driving in free moving traffic. But whenever I stopped again it went back down. Attached File  ImageUploadedByFord OC1421785328.817118.jpg   273.05KB   18 downloads

This picture shows where the needle sat when sitting in traffic this morning.

Is this normal? As it's the first winter I've had this car.

Many thanks

Mini Cooper Wouldn't Start

28 August 2014 - 07:55 AM

Hi all

Don't know if anyone could help me she's any light in this.

Went out in my fiancés 2004 mini yesterday to get it cleaned then take it for it's mot. When we got to the car wash ( one of those hand jobbies) we switched off and waited until they had cleaned it and then got back in and it wouldn't start just a clicking noise.

So straight away I thought battery. Anyway the guys there helped me to bump start and it fired straight up.

Drove to it's mot in town and had no more starting issues.

Went to eurocar parts and picked up a new battery then travelled to my folks house 20 mile away. Borrowed my dads multi meter and it showed 12.5v. Went to install the new battery which incidentally didn't fit as it wasn't tall enough so the cables didn't fit on the terminals.

So reinstalled new one and the voltage was still good. Fired it up checked voltage whilst running and it showed 14.5v

So I know it's not a ford but do you think it could be a faulty starter motor or something else?

Any thoughts?
