Scuffed Alloy, Any Recomendations Essex/hertfordshire?

11 April 2014 - 03:04 PM

I had to pull over onto the cub yesterday because of a nonse driving an Amey works van down the middle of the road. He took off and despite chasing him and his trailer, I lost him.

My alloy has been quite badly scuffed. I got his reg (off my dash cam) but don't think it is worth chasing him as it would probably not be worth the hassle.

Does anyone have any ideas on how much it would cost to get this sorted and where I could go (18" alloy, nsf is the one damaged)? I am on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, I also work in Enfield from time to time.

Shaking Steering Wheel

05 March 2014 - 08:29 PM

Recently my steering wheel has really started shaking at 60mph plus.

I know it could be tracking, and if it is I am not having it done. There are so many pot holes where I live and the council are doing nothing about it. I have spent a fortune on my car and I am not paying out for things which should never have happened.

I would like to ensure my tyres are at the right pressure as they have looked quite low recently, even when I have put a little extra air into them.

How can I check what the pressure should be on my wheels? I have a 59 plate Focus TDCI 1.8 Focus Zetec. Does it say on the tyre wall? I thought this would be a good starting point. My only other idea is that one of the  balance things may have fallen off of the rim because of the appalling state of the roads.

2007 Fiesta Cd6000 Removal Nightmares

15 February 2014 - 11:56 PM

A friend of mine has a Ford Fiesta 2007 with a delightful CD6000 player he would like to remove.

He has two sets of the four required keys. I had a Fiesta like this years back and when he said he had troubles getting it out, thought it would be a doddle when I went over to help him.

The stereo doesn't want to move. From what I can make out, three of the keys unlock (Top L, Bottom L and Top R), but bottom Right just won't work, the key just slides in and out.

We have been at it with screwdrivers to try and get leverage, doesn't seem to help.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we could try.

He is not too fussed about the CD6000 as he has a brand new Sony to replace it, he just wants it out!

Turn Off Seat Belt Chime?

14 January 2014 - 01:50 PM

Hi, I have a 59plate Focus 1.8 Lynx Diesel.

I have an exemption for wearing seatbelts because of a disability I have. I don't always need to take mine off, but when I do the constant chime drives me up the wall. It does eventually turn off, but it is a distraction.

Does anyone know what I need to turn it off? I'm guessing its one of the proper Ford OBDC computers.

Had even thought about getting the clip part that you plug in from a scrap yard and clipping it in as if the belt was on to shut it up when nececarry.

Tdci's Without A Dpf

06 December 2013 - 10:35 AM

Hi, a friend of mine has had several DPF woes with his Ford Focus 58 TDCI. Unfortunately, he wrote it off two weeks ago when he hit a deer. As luck would have it, he had just spent a small fortune on getting the DPF changed. Now it has been written off, his repair work has been futile.

He is looking at purchasing a smaller Fiesta. He has seen a nice 1.6 TFCi Zetec Climate.

It is a 56 plate with low mileage (26k). Can anyone tell me if this sort of model comes with a blasted DPF?

My 59 plate Focus 1.8 is a year newer than his focus of late, has an older lynx engine and does not have a dpf. Ideally he wants one like mine which does not as althogh tax is cheap, the repair bills on the dpf are huge and he does high mileage.
