Rattles & Vibration From Rear Tailgate Mondeo Mk4 Fixed

15 September 2014 - 09:03 PM

Hi just had to share.... For months I've been plagued with a rattle/vibration from what sounded like the rear hatchback interior trim. Suspecting it to be from either the large plastic panel incorporating the grab handles or the side panels near where the parcel shelf string is attached. I've even taken most of these panels off recently to search in vain for it!

Today I investigated further and have finally fixed it! Turns out it was the rear number plate!! Mine is screwed on (not double sided pads) and the plate was vibrating against the trim... The fix: unscrew number plate, put two plumbers rubber tap washers in between back of number plate and car. The washers have a hole in the middle which you can put straight over the screw thread when it comes through back of plate... That extra bit of cushioning has restored peace and quiet at long last!!

Correct Oil For My Engine

02 August 2014 - 04:16 PM

My car is a 2010 60 reg 1.8 TDCI Mondeo

Went into halfords today for some top up oil.... Their spec charts states a 5w-40 semi synthetic for my engine, but the one with the correct ford spec written on the side of the packaging is a 5w-40 fully synthetic!

I went with the latter but hope I'm right????

Does My Car Have Canbus/bulb Faliure System?

24 June 2014 - 11:10 PM

Hi

Car is a 2010 "60" reg mk4 Mondeo 1.8 TDCI Zetec.

I'm wanting to fit brighter led rear amber indicator bulbs but have been told that if my car has canbus or bulb failure warning system, I will also need to fit resistors. Can anyone tell me if my car does have a canbus bulb faliure system or not? Thanks!

Hi
My car is a 2010 60 reg mondeo 1.8TDCI Zetec.
Question is:
Going to France in August. Do I need to stick headlight deflectors on my headlight glass or do they have a switch to alter them?? Have come across conflicting opinions!
Cheers

How To Store Wheels/tyres?

11 May 2014 - 11:56 AM

Hi

I've recently bought a 2nd hand set of ford alloys with winter tyres ready for next winter off ebay.
I would like to know how is best to store them..... Upright, or flat on their backs..... Pumped up or air removed?

I currently have them stacked on top of each other on their backs, in tyre bags, pumped up to the correct pressure but if anyone has any other alternative suggestions please say!

Thanks
