What Mileage/time Intervals Should I Get My Car Serviced?

28 August 2012 - 09:27 AM

Hi,
I bout my '58 Fiesta Titanium in Sep 2010 from L. S. Eaves Ford in Colchester.
When I bought it they serviced it and at the time (according to the service book) it had done 11,885 miles - this is the one and only service stamp the book has.
Nearly 2 years later (I've had no problems with the car) I've thought that I really should get it serviced, not only because it's been 2 years since it was last serviced, but because the car has now done 33k.
I feel bad because aren't yet supposed to service a car every 12.5k?

I'm just wondering about what is done in a service and what I should make sure gets checked/changed. Is it a major service or a sort of check over service?

I've been looking on the Ford website and they offer a fixed priced service for £99 which I think is good value. The one thing I am mainly concerned about is the cam belt because I've heard that if this goes it ruins everything and you've pretty much lost your car... will Ford check this and when should it be changed?

As you can guess, I'm pretty clueless about this sort of thing!

Any help much appreciated.

Bluetooth Won't Connect

11 April 2012 - 08:57 PM

Hi, I've got a 58' fiesta titanium and am having trouble with my Bluetooth.
It's been working fine since I got it and about 6 weeks ago I got the iPhone 4s and had no trouble whatsoever. Out of the blue the little blue Bluetooth icon in the bottom left of the fiestas screen doesn't come on and my phone says that it's not connected. So I tried activating the connection but it won't have it. I tried to debond the phone and car but it still says 'phone 1' in the phone section. So I deleted the connection on my phone and now when my phone scans for devices my fiesta doesn't come up!
When I try and turn the Bluetooth off in the car, the tick disappears from the box for about 1 second And then comes back straight away ticked.

Is there any way of resetting the bluetooth in my car? I'm sure it's a problem with the car, not the phone.

Thanks.

Buying New Alloys

25 February 2012 - 04:31 PM

Hi, I have a '58 Fiesta Titanium with the infamous 'buckled alloys' problem which as I have read, has plagued the fiesta Mk7. I approached Ford about this 6 months ago and they told me it was my problem, not theirs and alloys aren't covered under warrantee. They claim that it's a wearing part and it is not covered. In my opinion most car parts are 'wearing' so warrantees aren't worth the paper they are written on. I have lost all faith with Ford. That aside, it still leaves me with a car that isn't very assuring to drive 35mph+.
At the time I wasn't in a position for pay out for new alloys and I am still reluctant to now. But safety is paramount especially when carrying passengers and other road users.
I have been looking online and have found a couple of alloy wheel websites but I would like some feedback as to whether they are reliable and to ask where other fiesta owners with the same issue as me, have got their wheels from?

The 2 websites I have found are:

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com

http://www.alloywheels.com

I have put in my car details in both websites and they give a large selection of alloys that fit my car. Is it a case of taking the old ones off and putting the new ones on? Im apprehensive to order some incase they don't fit/they rub etc.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

New Wheels

25 October 2011 - 12:45 PM

Hi,
My fiesta is due for an MOT and I know I'm going to need a couple of new tyres. A while ago I went to the garage as I could feel a wobble through the steering, did some research while they were checking my fiesta out and unfortunately for me 3 of my 4 allows have buckled. At the time, I couldn't justify spending 600 on 3 new ford alloys for potentially the same thing to happen again. So as my car is due for an mot knowing it will fail due to needing new tyres, i thought about buying a new set of alloys and tyres like the ones you find at halfords or an online store. But I don't really know what I'm looking for.
I have a 2008 (58) fiesta titanium 1.4. I think they're 16" standard alloys. As I want to change the wheels I would like to get 17" wheels, but don't know what sort of effect that's going to have on my speed, will I have to get the speedometer adjusted?
The only thing I know, is by going bigger, I could get thinner tyres to compensate for it. It there a number on the tyre that tells me the circumference? To so confusing! If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you
