#470873 Ask A Stupid Question Of Ford Fair

Posted by alexp999 on Today, 08:23 AM

1. People may peer in, to see how the interior looks, but it is all pretty respectful as you are all there to appreciate the cars.
2. Only someone you have been chatting to may ask (like a fellow club member), I doubt a random stranger will come up and ask unless you have done something particularly intriguing with the interior or have a real icon of a car.
3. It shouldn't be necessary as there are always lots of people about. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some cars with them fitted. It is only natural to want to protect your pride and joy.
4. The event organisers reserve the right to not let you out if there are too many people on the exit routes and it would be dangerous. Some people tend to start heading off after lunch I usually stay till about 2 or 3pm depending on how it is going.
5. Shouldn't need to redo a wax, but most will bring cloths and basic cleaning products to wipe off any dirt that has been picked up. A waterless wash sounds ideal.
6. All sorts, anything you could think of to do with cars. Like a halfords and breakers yard open air shopping centre, lol. Then tuners, Adrian flux, loads of different food stalls and of course, ford will be there.

#470034 Clarkson In Trouble Again - RIP Top Gear

Posted by alexp999 on 26 March 2015 - 03:20 PM

There is hope for the show yet:

Jeremy Clarkson: Return not ruled out, says senior BBC figure

Maybe give the show a years hiatus then bring it back with the three of them?

Battery doesn't have to be coded to the car, not sure what gave you that idea...

I'd expect it to last the same amount of time.

They should both have the same "design life".

#469953 Who Has The Lowest Premium

Posted by alexp999 on 26 March 2015 - 10:46 AM

Just had my renewal through and quite shocked (in a good way):

£226.17 + £28.99 for legal cover, so £255.17.

£250 Excess, fully comp, NCD protected.

I paid about £375 last year, so was like  :o  then  :D

Don't see why they couldn't have got him to go on anger management course, forfeit some wages to charity then got the producer involved to do some sort of prank to him as come back.

I don't condone what he did, just don't feel like sacking him was the best course of action.

People seem to have different theories.

The engines are bench tested before they leave the factory, so have already been red lined, to help the piston rings create a seal.

Some people say you need to drive it fast or it will always be slow, some say to take it easy to avoid damage.

I kept the revs below 4k for the first 100 miles, and tried to take it easy on the clutch and brakes - which I believe is what the manual says.

After that, I just make sure the engine is warmed up before giving it some, like I would any car, regardless of mileage.

I'll not be watching TG now, regardless of who they attempt to host it with.

The only exception will be, if they decide to air the recorded content which the three of them have already done.

Looks like Top Gear is dead:

I have already cancelled my TG mag subscription and ordered Evo instead, lol.

I can understand BBC felt they had to do the right thing, but you would think they could have come up with some sort of punishment that didn't involve letting him go.

I hope Hammond and May stand by what has been said and do not renew with BBC, following Clarkson out of the show. Then hopefully one of the FTA channels will pick them up (not Sky!) and we can get back to watching what they do best.

#469108 White Screen....

Posted by alexp999 on 24 March 2015 - 02:19 PM

It is a computer at the end of the day.

Sometimes they get their knickers in a twist and the simplest thing to clear the error is to turn it off and on again, lol.

If it happens too frequently then take it back to Ford, there might be a software update.

Last year we had passes that hung from the rear view mirror like a door knob hangar sign.

Much better than the a4 sheet from the previous year.

Have you tried locking the car for a bit, so it goes in to power saving and shuts everything down?

Effectively let it turn itself off and on again?

Failing that may be try unplugging the battery for a bit, otherwise it is going to have to go back to Ford for a warranty fix.
