#518226 If We Had 4 Weeks To Live

Posted by alexp999 on 01 September 2015 - 02:52 PM

4 weeks for yourself to live and 4 weeks until the end of the world are two very different things.

If it was 4 weeks till end of the world then everything would be going to pieces. No chance of doing anything you wanted to.

If it was just me and I could still travel I'd sell my car and all my belongings and go see as much of the world as I could in the time I got left.

You can set it not to search online.

Just hit the search button/bar go to settings and turn off online results.

They look like the right ones.

Only thing you need is for a dealer to check all wiring that is required is present.

If it is should just be a case of connecting them up, setting up the aim and turning the setting on in IDS.

#516134 Are Mot Advisory's A Legal Requirement?

Posted by alexp999 on 26 August 2015 - 02:53 PM

On the check sheet from a Ford main dealer I think they will recommend a tyre change at about 4mm or below of tread depth (might be 3mm, can't remember).

Whereas MOT legal limit is 1.6mm.

What is road legal and what they recommend to be replaced will be different, like Ian says.

Whole headlight cluster will need to be replaced.

They can re-use the bulbs though, lol.

Don't use a Titanium X, that has Xenons and are a different cluster.

You only want a reg from:

Zetec S

Zetec with Appearance Pack

Titanium with Appearance Pack

You should also be able to use an ST-2, but I'd stick with the above personally, just in case there are any differences.

The Ford dealership have a system they can look up part numbers on, they are just being lazy.

If you give them the registration of another car, which already has halogen clusters with LED DRLs (so a Zetec S or a Zetec/Titanium with AP1), then it makes it easier to find the part number on their system as it will only show what is fitted to that car and not all the options available.

Either that or get them from someone else. Fordpartsuk are good, they will quote them for you, just based on your reg and the description of the part. Just make sure you say the halogen cluster LED DRL headlights from the appearance pack, not the xenons.

Lazy bunch of so and so's, they could quite easily look up the part.

Just find a car on autotrader that has them which is the same age, where you can see the reg. Give them that reg and they can look up the part number for the headlights fitted to it.

Dealer is talking rubbish.

You need to speak to the service department, they can look up the headlights on their parts system.

But you will need their workshop to have a look at the car and check it has all wiring present before they order the headlights.

If they won't do it, you'll have to take it to another dealer who is more helpful after you have bought the car.

At a guess though, you could be looking at £300 each.

It should just be a case of ordering new headlight clusters with the DRLs from Ford.

If the wiring is already present they can just be fitted and have the option turned on in IDS.

The dealer should be able to look at the car and tell you if the wiring for the DRLs is present for this to work.

Otherwise you will need new looms, not an easy or cheap job, depending on where they run to.

Might be a while before DRL kits come out for this.

The cost of changing the headlights would be better spent on getting a higher spec car imo.
