The app is written by a 3rd party, I know management are certainly looking in to getting it updated. Will let you know if I hear any more.

#487842 Broken Plastic Clip = 220+ Repair Bill?

The other option is to complain to Ford customer relations.

See if they could sort out the individual part for you...

This is just how it works sometimes with car manufacturers

It is not so much profiteering, but how many components they have to stock. There are thousands of parts to a car, so sometimes they only stock complete assemblies.

It is probably better to try and get one from a car breaker.

#487578 Focus Titanium X

It is just going to be the labour charge really.

Mine was done under warranty, but I imagine yours is out of the original 3yrs now.

I think it takes 30-60 mins to complete. So no more than 1 hrs labour charge of your local dealers rate.

Hi Folks,

Me again with another query/question.

I'm finding the car a little bit "hit and miss" in first gear, especially when pulling away.

So im in first gear looking to pull away, accelerator down clutch rising up... meet the bite pull away.  On occasion (more often than not) the car will over rev and then under rev like i'm over cooking it, then its a case of pulling away (slowly - like 3k revs to get up to 15mph) or it shoots off like a rocket or it kangeroos.

It honetsly feels like i have zero clutch control, but this happens regardless of what my feed are doing.

I can hold the car on the bite on a hill and its not slipping.

My MPG isnt great either, 36 MPG for a journey to and form work - whilst this isnt anything concrete as you cant know my driving style, this feels low to me..

I'm not sure if this makes much sense but i found this article, and i wondered if i was alone in this experience..

There is a PCM (ECU) update to fix the unpredictable power.

I had it done in my old Focus, made the world of difference.

A diesel can work for short journeys if they are one after another as the engine is up to to temp.

It is when you commute short journeys and the engine is always cold that it becomes a problem.

List updated, lmk if I missed anyone.

Looks like it will be a better turn out of Foci than last year, to even up the odds against the Fiestas, lol.

And a mustang too, nice mix.

#486624 What Shall I Buy A Fiesta Metal Or Fiesta Ecoboost 140Ps

Posted by alexp999 on 15 May 2015 - 11:24 PM

Its the opposite, smaller engines means smaller block to have to heat up.

The 1.0 is made from cast iron to improve warmup and has a split cooling system to further quicken it.

Even my 1.5 which is a bigger engine with aluminium block (great heatsink) only takes about 5mins.

Have you taken it to a different dealer?

The bluehdi is the most powerful engine there.

I wouldn't want a gutless 1.5 tdci Focus in that spec.

I think I would agree that the 308 is best pick of the bunch there.

#485776 New 1.5 Ecoboost Has An Issue But Ford Are Fobbing Us Off

Posted by alexp999 on 13 May 2015 - 05:16 PM

Here is a video of it:

Initially I just start the engine and let it idle for the first 30s or so, but the clearest recording of it is around 1:10.

#485591 New 1.5 Ecoboost Has An Issue But Ford Are Fobbing Us Off

Posted by alexp999 on 13 May 2015 - 09:14 AM

I thought it was about time I started a new thread to discuss this, as it is part of my plan to make this topic noticed across various social media.

There is a known vibration/rattle/resonating fault with the design of the turbo and exhaust system of the new 1.5 Ecoboost Focus, however Ford are standing by it being design "intent" and trying to Fob us off that it is as designed.

I'm driving around this time of year with my window open and all I'm hearing on lift off and when changing down gears is an awful noise that sounds like my car is going to fall apart.

It is not a background noise, like tapety injectors, but a loud pronounced rattle that sounds like the exhaust system is being held together with safety pins.

If you have this issue, please reply so we can build up the number of people experiencing it. If you have this engine, but don't think you are experiencing the issue, try listening to the car on cold start up with the window or door open, or trying revving the engine over 3k revs and letting it drop back.

Anyone else reading this with experience of getting this sort of thing sorted with Ford, I would really appreciate your feedback. I have been given the number for customer relations by the service department at my garage and have asked the salesman at my dealer to pressure Ford. I see no reason why I cannot pursue this under the Sale Of Goods Act, this car is not of satisfactory quality.

UPDATE:

There is a strain of it down here I have heard of, WYIM WMMO.

"What's Your's Is Mine (and) What's Mine's Me (My) Own".

Very similar, probably evolved from the same ancestral virus... lol.

I think it is related to the CGAR, "Can't Get Anything Right", and the DDAID DAIS, "Don't Do As I Do, Do As I Say" viruses.
