I know the start stop topic has been raised a few times in this forum and although my issue is related, it's slightly different because I've not driven the car for the best part of a month and I'm wondering what the problem could be and need some input from the forum members.
Ok, as I said above, I've not used my car for around a month because of a on-going back injury and, this morning I decided to take it out for a spin. The car, quite surprisingly, started without problems and I drove off and, to be honest, I did not expect the S/S to work straight away but, after 30 odd miles of mainly motorway driving, I came back into town but, at each junction, roundabout and traffic lights, the engine did not cut out when I brought the car to a stand-still.
I've heard that the S/S has issues when used in conjunction with the EATC but, no matter what settings I used on the EATC, the S/S still did not work. I can only think that as the car had been parked up for around a month, the battery was pretty low, even after 30 miles, and so the S/S failed to function.
I would appreciate any advice from the forum members.
S/S should be able to function when it's needed and without being hindered by EATC settings and I've heard that there is a software fix for this issue (TSB 6370 - 24/7/2013). Has anyone had this fix and, if so, does their S/S function as it should? i.e. normally, regardless of the EATC settings, A/C on or off?
I have contacted my local dealership about this SYNC AppLink 2.0 FREE downloadable upgrade which is supposed to have been already released at the start of this year but, they told me that they have no information yet.
I've seen this update mentioned on so many websites including Ford and it should already be available to us but so far, no links have been put up. I've even contact Ford Customer Relations but they have not yet replied.
It is called Sync AppLink 2.0 but, do our SYNC integrated Ford cars actually have Sync Applink 1.0 installed?
Sync AppLink appears to be a great upgrade and we could do so much more with Sync if we could get our hands on the download so if it's already been released for free download, why are we not seeing any download links?
Most modern cars have at least 3 years warranty and I believe that the Fiesta is one of those cars.
I've just been looking through the service booklet for my 2013 Fiesta and have noticed on page 3 is shows that the 'Base Warranty' is 1 year and, on the bottom of page 3 it shows 'Ford Protect' and states that Ford Protect provides the second and third years.
So, I'm assuming that this is the warranty that I have?
Base Warranty = 1 year
Ford Protect = 2 years.
If that is correct, then on page 36, 'All About Your Vehicle', at the bottom, there are no details shown for the 'Ford Protect Contract Number' or Ford Protect Expiry Date'.
If that's not the cover I have for the 2nd and 3rd years and Ford Protect is something different, are the 2nd and 3rd years provided by the dealership?
Update: I forgot to add that when I first heard of the issue a week ago, the first thing I checked was the coolant level and it was about 1" below the maximum mark.
I have a query about the engine cooling fan on my previous Fiesta Zetec. Normally the air coming through the bonnet grill when the car is moving, helps keep the engine temp normal and then, when in stop/start traffic, the engine fan kicks in when you are stopped or slow moving.
My daughter has got my previous 2010 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 and has recently told me that the fan has been coming a few miles after starting. She has been at our house for the last hour or so and I went out with her while she started the car up and the fan keep on immediately which I assume is not correct so I'm guessing there must be an issue.
Can anyone advise on what the problem might be and possible cost to put it right?
