2008 Intake Manifold Runner Control

27 October 2014 - 08:28 PM

Well, almost exactly a year to the day without this issue happening, it has come back tonight on journey home.

Having been in stop/start traffic for 20mins or so and then pulling away in 1st, 2nd gears from traffic lights, car held back and wouldnt pull away properly, it continued to do so until arrived home luckily only 10mins away. no engine light tho!! turned off and left car for an hour, re started and took out for a spin and hey presto its back to normal, accelerating through gears is fine!

So, when this issue happened last year it had just been serviced, new sparks, air filters, oil etc, and funnily enough its just had a its annual service a week ago, again new sparks, air filter, oil etc!!

But when above issue happened tonight it hasnt lit EML and triggered the p2008 fault code, but the driving symptons were exactly the same, so definately an underlying issue somewhere.

I've have found some links to this fault code, and it mentions solenoids. does anyone know Where and what do these look like?

Links to what I found on google, search are here

Headlight Noise

04 February 2014 - 07:27 PM

Mk6 fiesta flame 2004

Got an issue with passenger side headlamp when headlights are on.

There is constant noise, what I can only describe as a clattering noise when the headlights are on.

Took the headlamp unit out last night to have a look, gave it the good old fashioned whack and it stopped, only for the problem to come back tonight.

Tried adjusting the headlamp levelling wheel from.1-4 and back again a few times but doesnt stop the noise.

There doesnt appear to be anyway of getting inside the unit itself to investigate!

Anyone had similar issue.

Is it a case of a new headlamp unit?

Instrument Cluster Lighting

30 January 2014 - 08:23 PM

Mk2.5 titanium 2008

As some of you will know, the instrument cluster is permanently lit regardless of wether lights are on or not. My type is the white numerals and red needles.

As soon as you turn the ignition key the cluster lights up.

Question I have is, could some external source to the car stop this from happening momentarily??

The reason I ask is its happened a few times to me, 3 or 4 at most over the last 2or3 years. but tonight being the 1st for a good year or so. And it always happenend in the local tesco xpress car park nearby, surely not coincidence.

Turn ignition key, The car headlights come on, the dash needles are lit, but the white numbers and background lighting doesnt come on....within 5 secs or so of driving off, they came on.

Scuttle Panel

15 January 2014 - 08:18 PM

Need to remove scuttle panel on mk2.5 focus.

Anyone done this?
Looks like its got clips at front, of scuttle, then obviously need to remove wipers. Does it then lift off or any hidden clips to be wary of?

Had new windscreen fitted the other day but everytime you engage wipers there is a strange noise coming from that area which wasn't there before.

If I remove the wiper blade itself and move the wiper arm away from screen and engage wipers I can't here it!

Will take a look at weekend

Heated Front Windscreen Replaced - Starting Issue This Morning!

13 January 2014 - 10:55 AM

Titanium Mk2.5 (1.8 petrol)

Maybe I am worring about nothing!

Had a new heated front windscreen fitted yesterday as the old one had cracked in the MOT failure area.

guy came out to fit it, I explained to him it was heated version and each corner of windscreen had an electrical connector.

He said he had connected it all back up okay, I even checked the wiper sensor & headlight sensor top of windscreen worked and all fine!

Didnt use car after he had replaced screen but went out to start up this morning and really struggled to start! had to give it quite a lot of gas!  It has been cold & wet overnight but not frosty!

not had any starting issues with this car!   y'day I started it up before he had fitted the new screen; and this after it had been frosty, and it started 1st time!

So not sure if it was related to new screen?

probably not?  I know the heated screen has a large power consumption!
